92NY

The Context

Recent research consistently highlights the high rates of loneliness in Generation Z, the state of which exceeds all other generations. 92NY was committed to starting a national conversation about loneliness through social media by raising awareness and reducing stigma around loneliness, and providing practical resources for addressing loneliness through connection to oneself and others.

The PROJECT

92NY’s social impact division, The Belfer Center, launched the #LessLonely Campaign, a Gen Z-focused campaign destigmatizing and combatting loneliness, and providing simple calls to action and resources for connection. #LessLonely launched in collaboration with GivingTuesday.

WHAT WE DID

THE IMPACT

During its launch week, the #LessLonely campaign reached over 12 million people across 92NY’s digital channels. By building amplification partnerships, the campaign has continued to use the momentum as a base to continue critical conversations around loneliness, particularly within already established youth-focused digital communities.

MARCH ON FOR VOTING RIGHTS

On August 28, 2021, tens of thousands of BIPOC people and allies in nearly 100 cities and towns across America came together to march, protest, and rally for the passage of federal voting rights legislation. March On for Voting Rights was a powerful echo of history, falling 58 years to the day after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech.

HIGHLIGHTS

THE IMPACT

The event garnered over 60K social posts, engaged over 100K live viewers, and prompted 20K digital actions protect voting rights at a defining moment in our country.

Young People Address the Nation

The Context

In 2020, young people showed up to vote in historic numbers. However, the voices of youth changemakers and our stories were often missing in key decision-making tables and the national conversation. Using that as our drumbeat, there was interest across youth-focused organizations to create moments to shift attention to the priorities of Gen Z leaders.

The PROJECT

Spearheaded by our youth-led team, we led the strategy and execution for two major events dubbed Young People Address the Nation. In 2021, the first event was held on the 100th day of the Biden-Harris administration, and featured 30 young leaders on topics such as economic recovery and youth engagement across the federal government. On March 1, 2022, Young People Address the Nation presented the first-ever Youth Response to the State of the Union that featured over 30 young people from 26 states directly follow President Biden’s State of the Union Address.

HOW WE HELPED

THE IMPACT

Young People Address the Nation reached over 150K young people and adult allies on social media. In 2022, the Amplify Pledge team won a Webby Award and was featured in Youth.gov for our intentional approach to authentic-youth engagement.
