Position Summary:

Team DSB seeks a tech-savvy and Creative Assistant to support the CCO and team with administrative and business development tasks, project coordination, content creation, and day-to-day social media management of clients/several different pages. The right candidate will also handle light graphic design and see projects through from idea to execution. Previous experience working in a creative team or agency is essential, along with the ability to quickly learn a brand voice and create content around it.

This role is a fully remote 25-30 hrs/week Independent Contractor position with a flexible schedule. We are looking for someone who is US-based and can be online and available to support the team between the hours of 9 am PT – 5 pm PT.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Social Media Execution: Day-to-day management of social media accounts (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok)
  • Community Management: Respond to direct messages for general engagement, point people to key CTAs, and comment on the pages of movement-focused organizations/influencers (daily)
  • Social Listening: Source social media posts for content to amplify and potential rapid response moments (daily)
  • Creator Coordination: Reach out to creators and influencers for content collaborations
  • Social Media Content Calendar Maintenance: Maintain content calendar with approved content
  • Social Copywriting and Copyediting: Develop and edit copy for social posts (as relevant)
  • Graphics: Develop graphics, including timely graphics – work with external designer as needed
  • Video Production: Light video production editing for content developed
  • Content Ideation: Identify content topic opportunities and post opportunities for platforms, including timely and evergreen content (as relevant)
  • Content Research: Support with research for content

Qualifications:

  • At least three years of experience in copywriting, content creation, social media content, or journalism
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Strong copy-editing and proofreading abilities
  • Proficient in editing for style, grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Detail-oriented with a keen eye for accuracy and consistency
  • Ability to fact-check information and verify sources
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in tools like Google Workspace and Asana.
  • Familiarity with industry practices, niche software, and similar roles or organizations.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have previous experience as a Creative Assistant, Communications Assistant, or Operations Assistant (in the creative space)
  • You have previously worked in the creative space (think: agencies, digital consultancies, social media/influencers, etc.) and are familiar with content, social media platforms, and working in a digital business environment
  • You have previous experience working remotely and independently and have your own laptop and a reliant internet connection
  • You have extensive experience with the tools we use
  • You’re an excellent writer and strategic thinker
  • You love content (from podcasts to YouTube channels to TikToks and Newsletters)
  • You can communicate an idea well via different mediums (a slide deck, a proposal, a newsletter, social media graphics, a virtual meeting, or an email, etc.)

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong proficiency in social media management and content creation.
  • Excellent graphic design skills with proficiency in tools like Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.

Work Environment:

  • All of our work is entirely remote.

Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily a desk-based role, requiring prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Occasional travel may be required for client meetings or company events.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, such as a laptop, monitor, and phone.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in both virtual and in-person environments.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • This is a contractor position with no benefits package included.
  • $25/hour at around 30 hours per week
